Default Petition to add more AB servers for this weekend's event.

Now I'm sure you all are excited on the SUPER MEGA addition onto the faction of your alliance for the wins this weekend, but even normally, how long on average does it take you to join an alliance battle. When I'm alone, ill quickly spam taking any group into AB lets just go! We start and it can take anywhere from 5-20 minutes before I get to enjoy a short game of AB.

With this weekend event, Alliance battles are sure to double, even more to triple or quadruple the normal amount of people. How then, are we expected to wait 1-2 hours to join a 15 minute scrimmage?

I don't own Anet, I don't know what they CAN and CAN'T do on their budget, but I am sincerely asking for them to upgrade the size of the AB servers so that we all can get in smoothly, if not for good, then just for this weekend, please, post your thoughts.

I don't know for sure about AB, but I know for aspenwood theres a very small limit to consecutive games... fairly certain theres a limit on AB too, and if there is, I'm all for removing the limit or kicking it up a lot

the wait isn't because there aren't enough servers, it's because hardly anyone ab's or jade/aspenwoods (leechers killed the latter)

In this thread Gaile said there is no limit on servers. It probably only seems that way because there are more Kurzicks than Luxons and whenever a game ends, that is three groups waiting to get back into an AB and we think there is a limit.

Then let's see the explaination why 5+ groups on each side still have to wait forever to get in a game. >.> There's a limited # of games going at a time, and that's what needs to be fixed.

I think what she meant by infinite servers is that the game is designed to keep adding districts. For example More server resources are used if needed. This can be seen during holiday events such as halloween. There were 200 + Districts for LA

I've never seen any evidence about there being a limit on server-size, and the only times I had to wait to enter a battle is because there weren't many people.

Don't be puzzled. Someone's just talking nonsense.

There isn't any limitation on servers. I've never seen any evidence at all to support this theory--why on earth would they limit AB instances and not any other kind of instances?

Usually the problem is caused by not enough people wanting to join the AB games. For example, when the map is ancestral, there is generally only 8-10 players in a typical luxon district, meaning that's not even enough to field a team, but the kurzick side has 100 groups waiting to go in and farm faction. Similarly, when it's in canyon, there aren't many kurzick groups but a bunch of luxon ones. While servers may have been an issue in the past, I don't think it is anymore.

Hope my memory serves me right.
During the faction pvp beta preview, one can get in a game immediately despite the large population. However after faction release, people start getting no opposing party even though there are many groups on both sides waiting to join. Thus giving rise to the theory of AB server limit.

This is also evident in Fort Aspenwood, especially during an old double FA faction event.

Nowadays it is more due to a lack of players so people have no idea whether there is still a server limit.

Exactly. I have yet to find out why there's a bunch of players on both sides waiting forever to play sometimes. All it takes is asking a friend who is Ab'ing on the opposing side if there are or are not teams waiting over there too. Occasionally, the other side was very sparse, and that does mean its a finite player pool problem in that case - but many times when I was AB'ing a lot there was a fair amount of wait time on both sides. Sometimes quite an excessive wait at that.

May well indeed be different now, with a population much more slanted towards Kurzicks and quite sparse in Luxon. During the height of AB in early to mid Factions, even though Kurzicks still outnumbered Luxon usually, there were still enough waiting teams on both sides to give rise to the server limit theory. Was why I stopped honestly. Would still love to do it. Will check out this event.
